How Much Does It Cost to Move House in Auckland?

"How much will it cost?" is usually the first question anyone asks before a move. We don't publish a fixed price list or an instant online calculator, because the honest answer depends on details that vary from move to move. This guide explains what those details are, so you know what to expect and what to share when you request a quote.

Why there's no fixed price list

Two moves that sound similar on paper — say, two "3-bedroom house" moves — can involve very different amounts of work. One might have easy driveway access at both ends; the other might involve three flights of stairs, a long carry from the nearest parking, and a piano. Publishing a single price for "a 3-bedroom move" would either overcharge the easy job or undercharge the hard one.

Instead, we review the specific details of your move — items, access, distance, and timing — and confirm a price based on what your move actually involves.

What affects the price of a move

  • The volume and number of items being moved, and whether any need special handling (a piano, a safe, artwork, appliances).
  • The distance between the pickup and destination addresses.
  • Access at both ends — driveway or street parking, stairs, lifts, long carries, and any building or loading-zone restrictions.
  • Timing — your preferred date, and whether the move needs to happen within a tight window.
  • Whether you need packing support as well as transport.
  • How many movers and what size vehicle the job realistically needs, which follows from the details above.

How to get an accurate estimate

The more of the above you can share up front, the more accurate your quote will be, and the fewer surprises on moving day. A useful starting point:

  • Pickup and destination addresses (or at least suburbs, if addresses aren't confirmed yet).
  • A rough item list, or the size of the property (studio, 1–2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms, 4+ bedrooms, or office).
  • Access details at both ends — stairs, lifts, driveways, or anything unusual.
  • Your preferred moving date, and how flexible it is.
  • Any large, fragile, or awkward items that need extra care.

What happens after you request a quote

We review the details you've shared and come back with the next step — either a quote, or a few clarifying questions if something's unclear. If the scope of the job turns out to be different from what was described once we're on site (for example, significantly more items or access that's harder than expected), we'll raise that with you rather than surprise you with it afterward.
